Impressive piece of work
I am ordinarily gloomy about the public policy process in India. But for a welcome change, the quality of staff work in the draft direct tax code, which has been put out for discussion, is outstanding.

Despite easy to understand framework, I'm still bogged down by many categories/heads.
ReplyDeleteI am curious about how the process for drafting and vetting something like this works in India - is the original drafting done by Indian Revenue Service types, or a bunch of economists working for the Finance ministry? and then, who vets the draft - IAS types and lawyers in the law ministry or someone else?
